NMTA prize boats: last year and this year

The latest from Tony Floor at Northwest Marine Trade Association about last year’s prize boat, and plans for this year:

Greetings…..today, at Elliott Bay Marina, I handed over the keys to the 2012 NW Salmon Derby Series grand prize River Hawk boat to Lon Hayne of Bellevue. Lon won the boat by participating in the Edmonds Coho Derby last September. As of last Friday, the 2013 21-foot River Hawk boat arrived at Cabela’s in Lacey and the rigging process is underway. The new boat will be on display at the Seattle Boat Show, which begins January 25th. Here comes the 10th annual NW Salmon Derby Series and thanks for your partnership.

We’ve finally added a list of area services of interest to Derby participants. This is a partial list of restaurants, lodging, and other area choices. We’ll try to bring this up to date over the next few days.

Second donation - from John Wayne's Waterfront Resort

Monday, December 10th, 2012

We have just received another great donated prize. John Wayne’s Rustic Waterfront Resort has donated a two-night stay in a two-bedroom cabin, with full kitchen, overlooking Sequim Bay. This is a $265.00 value. It will be valid during winter months (from 10/1 to 5/31). They are also planning to offer a discounted room rate during the 2013 derby for derby participants. We’ll post more details when we have them. Our thanks to them!

Our first donation this year was a hand-tied halibut rod donated by Gary’s Custom Rods in PA – worth $250. We’ll start posting this year’s prize ladder as soon as we get a few more contributions.

Remember that our net proceeds support local emergency and other important services. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, so most donations are tax-deductible.

Minor corrections regarding ticket sellers

Monday, December 10th, 2012

We have two minor corrections regarding tickets that crept into this year’s posters.

  • Olympic Equipment Rental in Port Hadlock is a ticket seller this year. We have only just learned that they changed their name from Just Ask Rentals, which is how they appear on the posters and brochures. Their location is the same.
  • This year’s large poster accidentally lists McKay’s Shrimp & Crab Gear, in Brinnon, as a ticket seller. However they are not selling tickets this year.

Sorry for any confusion.
